Alan Wake 2 Delayed to October 27

    A ten-day delay.

Remedy Entertainment has officially delayed Alan Wake 2 from October 17 to October 27. The announcement comes mere days before Gamescom, where Remedy will show off more footage for the upcoming survival horror title.

Alan Wake 2 is the long-anticipated sequel to the hit horror game Alan Wake. Remedy initially released the first game in 2010. Between both titles, they’ve released several other games filled with several references to the story of Alan Wake. The upcoming release will mark Remedy Entertainment’s first-ever survival horror game.

In a tweet from the official Alan Wake account, Remedy confirmed that Alan Wake 2 will be pushed to Friday, October 27. They elaborated on the news, stating that “October is an amazing month for game launches, and we hope this date shift gives more space for everyone to enjoy their favorite games.” October 2023 will be one of the most packed years in recent gaming history.

The original date of Alan Wake 2, October 17, put it in direct competition with several other major titles. These include games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Wonder. Delaying it by ten days gives the upcoming title more room to stand out. Remedy will reveal more information on the forthcoming release during Gamescom, starting on August 22.

Here’s a description of Alan Wake 2 courtesy of the PlayStation Store:

    About Alan Wake 2

A string of ritualistic murders threatens Bright Falls, a small-town community surrounded by Pacific Northwest wilderness. Saga Anderson, an accomplished FBI agent with a reputation for solving impossible cases arrives to investigate the murders. Anderson’s case spirals into a nightmare when she discovers pages of a horror story that starts to come true around her.

Alan Wake, a lost writer trapped in a nightmare beyond our world, writes a dark story in an attempt to shape the reality around him and escape his prison. With a dark horror hunting him, Wake is trying to retain his sanity and beat the devil at his own game.

Anderson and Wake are two heroes on two desperate journeys in two separate realities, connected at heart in ways neither of them can understand: reflecting each other, echoing each other, and affecting the worlds around them.

Fueled by the horror story, supernatural darkness invades Bright Falls, corrupting the locals and threatening the loved ones of both Anderson and Wake. Light is their weapon—and their safe haven — against the darkness they face. Trapped in a sinister horror story where there are only victims and monsters, can they break out to be the heroes they need to be?

Lastly, Alan Wake 2 will release on October 27, 2023. The game will be available on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
