The Pokémon Company has revealed that the next Pokémon World Championships will take place in Honolulu, Hawaii. They will likely disclose more information on the exact dates of the 2024 championships over the coming months.
The Pokémon World Championships is an annual event featuring tournaments in the Pokémon video games, card games, and mobile games such as UNITE and Pokémon Go. The most recent Pokémon World Championship occurred in Yokohama, Japan, and ended just over the weekend. Alongside the announcement, The Pokémon Company confirmed their approach to the ongoing disasters across Hawaii.
The Pokémon World Championships is Coming to Hawaii
With the announcement, the Pokémon Company released a trailer revealing the news. The trailer shows the beautiful vistas that fans can look forward to participating in on the event’s weekend. While they haven’t yet confirmed a date of attendance for the 2024 championships, expect it to occur around mid-August.
The Pokémon World Championships initially started in 2004. Back then, it only included the card game or TCG. Over time, the tournament would consist of the Pokémon Video Games. They created a separate category for this side of the tournament called VGC. Every year, they include a new game in the rotation. Pokémon fans should expect the 2024 tournament, the 20th anniversary of the event, to have many surprises and treats as part of the event.
Additionally, The Pokémon Company released a statement on Twitter in response to the recent wildfires raging across Hawaii:
