After several teases, Monkey D. Luffy will finally enter his Gear 5 form in Episode 1071 of the One Piece anime. A delay pushed the release of Episode 1070 by a week, but the long-running anime is back to its weekly schedule with Episode 1071 going forward.
In recent episodes of the One Piece anime, Luffy is seemingly defeated after a hard-fought battle against Kaido in the Wano arc. However, the Straw Hat Pirate is gearing up to enter his peak form: Gear 5 (fifth). This past July, Episode 1070 continued to build anticipation and excitement toward this major Gear 5 transformation scene for Luffy.
One Piece Episode 1071 Release Date
Episode 1071 of the ongoing One Piece anime will air on Sunday, August 6 at 9:30 a.m. JST across Japanese broadcasting networks. Crunchyroll is simulcasting the popular One Piece anime series with English subs, so fans can expect Episode 1071 to arrive at 10:00 p.m. EDT on Saturday, August 5. Viewers may enjoy the latest episode of One Piece with Japanese audio with English, Spanish (LATAM and Spain) or Brazilian Portuguese subtitles. However, the English dub is nearly a hundred episodes behind, so fans shouldn’t expect Episode 1071 to receive English audio for quite some time.

Episode 1071 Preview

However, the tides will quickly turn with the return of Joy Boy after nearly 800 years. Luffy will finally awaken into his Gear 5 form and become one of the most powerful characters in One Piece history, so One Piece Episode 1071 should not be missed by fans.
