Iron Galaxy and Xbox have officially announced that a new Killer Instinct update will release later this year. The update will commemorate the game’s tenth anniversary. More information will be revealed about the update soon.
Killer Instinct is a beloved fighting game released on the Xbox One. Microsoft and Double Helix launched the game in 2013 before Iron Galaxy took over Seasons 2 and 3 development. Fans have been hoping for a sequel to the Xbox Series X|S for years. While a sequel has not yet been confirmed, the upcoming update will undoubtedly breathe new life into one of the most beloved fighting games of the last twenty years.
A New Killer Instinct Update
Iron Galaxy has officially described the update as follows:
“Our friends @IronGalaxy are back! And together, we’re bringing you Killer Instinct’s free 10th Anniversary Update later this year – including a balance update, improved matchmaking, and 4K support for Series X|S. More info coming soon!”
There likely won’t be many other significant additions beyond improving the game’s quality of life. Fans hoping for new characters to be added will likely be disappointed. For those unfamiliar with Killer Instinct, the official Steam page details the game in the following blurb:
