Bandai Namco released a new “Special” trailer for SAND LAND project, which includes the upcoming anime film and a new action RPG. The trailer highlights what fans can expect from Akira Toriyama’s classic manga franchise in the future.
Sunrise, Kamikaze Douga, and ANIMA are producing the new SAND LAND movie with Bandai Namco Entertainment. The movie was originally announced as “SAND LAND project,” which Bandai Namco has expanded to include the new SAND LAND action RPG. In short, SAND LAND project is being developed as one of Bandai Namco Entertainment’s fully established IPs.
SAND LAND Project and Upcoming Releases
The SAND LAND project “Special” trailer highlights the upcoming anime movie and the new action RPG. Several panels of the manga by Akira Toriyama are shown to highlight SAND LAND’s unique artstyle. Near the end of the trailer, Bandai Namco confirms that the SAND LAND project will include new toys and merchandise. Further details were not revealed, however.

TOHO will open SAND LAND in Japanese theaters first on August 18 with regular, IMAX, 4DX, and MX4D screenings. The new film will premiere in 2024 for North America, but a distributor has not been announced yet. Currently, it’s unknown whether the film will be released in theaters or digitally via streaming services in the west.
