Everything We Know About the Release of Red Dead Redemption Remastered

    Outlaws from the West.

    Published:

In 2010, Rockstar released a western-inspired shooter titled Red Dead Redemption. Back then, it was only available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The company released a sequel titled Red Dead Redemption 2 eight years later. That game is still available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. There’s still no way to play the original Red Dead Redemption on modern hardware. Thanks to some recent listings, the wait for a port of the original Red Dead Redemption may finally be over. Here’s everything we know about the release of Red Dead Redemption Remastered.

What is Red Dead Redemption About?

Red Dead Redemption rated in Korea

Red Dead Redemption is a gruesome game that focuses on a former outlaw, John Marston, hunting down his former friends to protect his family. It is a simple premise that harkens back to Spaghetti Westerns, yet within the simplicity is a tale of tragedy, revenge, and the American Dream. The sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2, enhances the original game’s story by focusing on the gang that John Marston was a part of. Both games are graphical, narrative, and gameplay masterpieces. A remastered version of the first or a collection of both games would be welcome.

When Will Red Dead Redemption Remastered Release?

New Red Dead Redemption Logo. "Rockstar Games Presents Red Dead Redemption"

In late June, a rating for Red Dead Redemption surfaced in Korea. A few days back, a new logo stating “Rockstar Games Presents Red Dead Redemption” surfaced. This has led people to suspect that a remastered announcement is imminent. Similarly, in late 2021, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy was rated in Korea. Rockstar officially announced the game just a few days later. As a result, expect to see an official announcement sometime in August.

As for when the game will release, Red Dead Redemption Remastered will likely be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in late 2023 or Early 2024. The game will probably feature a massive graphical overhaul and likely some quality-of-life updates here and there. If you’ve never gotten a chance to play the original Red Dead Redemption or have been itching for a way to replay it, keep an eye out for more news on Red Dead Redemption Remastered.
