Red Dead Redemption has been recently rated in Korea. The information seemingly hints at a remaster or remake for the first entry in the Red Dead Redemption franchise being in development.
Ratings for the original, Undead Nightmare Collection, and GOTY Edition for the PS3 and Xbox 360 had already existed before the new rating. This is a brand-new rating that was published on June 5, 2023. At the moment, Rockstar has not commented on the listing.
Will Red Dead Redemption be Remastered?
This is not the first time a rating has indicated a new game in development. In late 2021, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy was rated in Korea, and just a few days after, it was officially announced. Earlier this year, a rating for Sonic Origins Plus also surfaced. Sega formally revealed the game to the public more than a month later.
The rating comes almost thirteen years after the first Red Dead Redemption in 2010. 2023 also marks five years since the release of Red Dead Redemption 2. The latter officially reached 53 million sales as of May 2023. A new version of Red Dead Redemption would undoubtedly be very successful. A remastered edition would be the first time the game would be playable on modern hardware. Only time will tell what Rockstar has planned for the future of the Red Dead franchise.
Rockstar’s last game was Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy in 2021. It received many negative reviews, primarily because of numerous game-breaking bugs and an unpopular new aesthetic change for the package. Rockstar hasn’t revealed any further information about their next game. However, based on a statement from Rockstar in 2022, they’re currently working on the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto franchise.
Lastly, Red Dead Redemption is available exclusively on the PS3 and Xbox 360. It’s also available on Xbox One/Series X through backwards compatibility. Red Dead Redemption 2, however, is available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. Fans of the franchise should watch for future statements from Rockstar about a potential Red Dead Redemption remaster or remake.
