With Final Fantasy XVI almost here, many are asking themselves if there is a character creation in this epic experience coming from Creative Business Unit III. CBUIII, best known for MMO Final Fantasy XIV, is no stranger to character creators.
The team’s FFXIV has so many options when it comes to creating and customizing characters. With that, have they brought this feature over to XVI? Here is everything you need to know about whether or not there is a character creator in Final Fantasy XVI.
Character Creation in Final Fantasy XVI
Unfortunately, there is not any character creation in Final Fantasy XVI. The game only allows you to play as Clive Rosfield, who is the protagonist. A character creator would not have melded well with the title as it is a rich single-player experience, not an MMO, as some might have thought.
While Square Enix could have opted to make a custom protagonist for Final Fantasy XVI, they wanted the player to feel an emotional attachment to the protagonist and travel with him throughout the journey of the game. Valisthea is a vast land that could take up to eighty hours to explore fully.
Clive Rosfield is voiced by Ben Starr. He is the only playable character, as the game has a high action focus, or at least more so than previous Final Fantasy titles. Combat design has been directed by Ryota Suzuki, who was a key member of the Devil May Cry 5 and Dragon’s Dogma combat design teams.
