    PlayStation VR2 Sales Come Close to 600,000 Units in First Six Weeks

    Sony recently hosted its business segment meeting for fiscal year 2023, revealing sales for the PlayStation VR2 headset following its launch on February 22. PlayStation VR2 managed to sell almost 600,000 units globally within its first six weeks, and Sony notes the headset as a strong performer. 

    PlayStation VR2 appears to have approached the 590,000 mark by April 5, roughly six weeks after its launch on February 22. Sell-through of PlayStation VR2 quickly surpassed the original PlayStation VR sell-through when aligned by its first six weeks. PlayStation VR2’s sales were 8% higher than PlayStation VR by the sixth week. The headset’s launch is a strong performer according to Sony, and more games are coming soon. These PlayStation VR2 games include Ghostbusters: Rise the Ghost Lord, Beat Saber, Crossfire Sierra Squad, Resident Evil 4 remake, Synapse, The Foglands, Green Hell VR, and Behemoth.

    PlayStation VR2 launched on February 22 with a games lineup featuring Horizon: Call of the Mountain, Gran Turismo 7, Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate, and much more. Additionally, Capcom confirmed Resident Evil 4 remake would receive PlayStation VR2 support at a later date. The PlayStation VR 2 mode is currently in development as free DLC, and Capcom plans to reveal more details once they’re ready.

    “The VR mode for Resident Evil 4 has begun development! Please look forward to more details in the future!” Capcom said this past February. “The VR mode for Resident Evil 4 will be released as free downloadable content for PlayStation 5 / PlayStation VR2.”

    Sony’s next PlayStation Showcase is set for May 24 at 4 p.m. EDT. The live program runs for over an hour and features brand-new games coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2 from PlayStation Studios, third-party partners, and indie developers. Specifically, Sony notes “a wealth of new games and IP” for the showcase. Eager fans may tune into PlayStation Showcase by visiting PlayStation’s official YouTube and Twitch channels.
