Team Cherry head of marketing and publishing Matthew Griffin shared a development update for the highly anticipated release of Hollow Knight: Silksong. The game was originally planned for the first half of 2023, but development continues onward due to an increase in scale.
Team Cherry is excited about how development has progressed for Hollow Knight: Silksong, but the game is not ready for a release as originally planned. Development is still ongoing, so the long awaited sequel will not release in the first half of 2023. The development team wants to take its time in order to get the best possible quality out of the game. As a result, the game will now release sometime after the first half of 2023.
“We had planned to release in the 1st half of 2023, but development is still continuing,” said Matthew Griffin on Twitter. “We’re excited by how the game is shaping up, and it’s gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can.”
Griffin added, “Expect more details from us once we get closer to release.”
