Entergram and 07th Expansion announced Higurashi Origin, a brand-new title in the renowned Higurashi When They Cry series. The new game was announced during 07th Expansion’s “07th Pasta Kai” event in Japan on May 5, 2023.
Further details about the upcoming Higurashi Origin title, including a release date and platforms, were not revealed. The official 07th Expansion Twitter account shared images from its 07th Pasta Kai event while thanking fans for their time and continued support. Moreover, 07th Expansion asks Higurashi When They Cry fans to wait for more information about Higurashi Origin.

When They Cry is 07th Expansion’s main franchise with several series including Higurashi, Umineko, and Ciconia. Ryukishi07 is the creator of the When They Cry franchise and serves as the main writer. Ryukishi07’s resume extends past When They Cry and 07th Expansion, however. His other works includes visual novels Okami Kakushi and Loopers, which were published by Konami and Prototype respectively.
Fans may also look forward to Konami’s Silent Hill f, a new game by developer Neobards Entertainment and story writer Ryukishi07. Silent Hill f is set in 1960s Japan with a renewed focus on horror and beauty. Ryukishi07 was brought into the project for his talents in Japanese visual novels dealing with horror and murder mysteries.
Lastly, Silent Hill f is currently in development with no confirmed release date.
