Nintendo Switch Version 16.0.0 Update Available Now

    A change to user nicknames.

Nintendo announced the version 16.0.0 firmware update for Nintendo Switch is available now worldwide with a change involving user nicknames. General system stability improvements are also noted.

The Nintendo Switch version 16.0.0 update will replace user nicknames that cannot be used with “???.” This means users will likely need to use a different nickname if Nintendo deems the existing one is to be inappropriate. For now, this appears to be the only notable change made in the update.

System updates for Nintendo Switch automatically download if the console is connected online. Nintendo Switch users may verify their console’s current version by going to System Settings and navigating to the System menu. The update may be manually installed by pressing the System Update option in the System menu. If the update does not installed or has not downloaded yet, users should restart the console and connect online.
