Nintendo Switch Has Outsold PlayStation 4 Lifetime Sales

    The DS and PS2 remain.

The Nintendo Switch has officially outsold the PlayStation 4 console. This has been a long time coming, but it was confirmed through Nintendo’s earnings report that the console has dethroned the PlayStation 4 from its spot in the rankings.

Nintendo Switch now sits at over 122.55 consoles sold, whereas the PS4 sits at 117.2 copies sold. In this quarter alone, the Switch sold over 8 million consoles. Plenty of titles ranked extremely high in the charts, with millions of games being sold in just this last quarter alone. This makes the Nintendo Switch officially the third best-selling console of all time.

The next two consoles on the list for Switch to beat are the DS and the PlayStation 2, which are the best-selling consoles of all time. Accompanied by the all-star software lineup, this does seem like it could happen with the Switch.

Additionally, you can find the list of the top-selling games on the Nintendo Switch below.

    • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
    • Animal Crossing: New Horizons
    • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
    • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
    • Pokemon Sword / Pokemon Shield
    • Super Mario Odyssey
    • Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet
    • Super Mario Party
    • Ring Fit Adventure
    • Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! / Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee!

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet version 1.2.0

With such impressive sales from Scarlet & Violet, it seems extremely plausible that we can expect the Nintendo Switch to surpass 150 million consoles sold at this rate. Switch and PlayStation 4 are both fantastic consoles with a great library of games, however, the Switch keeps pushing forward with its incredible run so late into its life cycle.
