Professor Layton Series Surpasses 18 Million Copies Sold Worldwide

Another milestone to break the Professor Layton hiatus.

Professor Layton and The New World of Steam was one of the most unexpected game announcements from the recent Nintendo Direct. The Nintendo eShop page for the upcoming title is now live, revealing the Professor Layton series surpassed 18 million copies sold worldwide.

An exact figure for the amount of copies sold is unknown, but the series has sold an estimated 1 million copies since 2019. In 2019, Level-5 released Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box HD for Mobile and Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaries’ Conspiracy Deluxe Edition for Nintendo Switch. The developer confirmed over 17 million copies were sold when Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box HD for Mobile first launched in June 2019.

    Upcoming Level-5 Titles

A release date for Professor Layton and The New World of Steam was not announced, but Nintendo Switch players may wishlist the game right now in the Nintendo eShop. Level-5 is also developing detective RPG DECAPOLICE and social sim RPG Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time. Both DECAPOLICE and Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time are slated to launch in 2023.

Lastly, Professor Layton and The New World of Steam is currently in development for Nintendo Switch with no confirmed release date.
