Falcom to Strengthen In-House Switch Development, Multiple Trails Games In The Works

    Many new Falcom games to come in 2023 and beyond.

    Falcom released its business plan following the 23rd annual shareholders meeting, revealing the company’s plans to expand Nintendo Switch development and release more games per year. Multiple Trails series games are currently in development at Falcom (Thanks, Hansuke).

    Falcom intends to strengthen in-house development for Nintendo Switch while continuing to promote multi-platform releases. The business plan depicts the Nintendo Switch alongside the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 as Falcom’s main platforms for development. Falcom highly values the overseas audience as well with promotion of multi-platform and translated works such as The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie.

    Multiple games are in the works at Falcom including two Trails games are in development and a brand-new action RPG. A fourth title is in development, but details surrounding the game are scarce at the moment. Further, three ports are in development, which like refers to Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana and the other two “refine” titles.

    The company plans to expand the number of games released per year and create new intellectual properties. Currently, Falcom releases roughly 2 to 3 games each year, and the company wants to expand this annual total to 4 or 5 per year. Since development is a long term process, Falcom intends to launch many titles with the next 2 to 4 years.
