Hidden Variable announced Skullgirls 2nd Encore DLC characters Black Dahlia and Marie launch in 2023 alongside the new Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions.
Black Dahlia
Black Dahlia is available now in Skullgirls Mobile, and the DLC character was originally planned to release in 2022 for the console and PC versions. According to Hidden Variable, timetables shifted regarding her development, so her release was pushed to early 2023. Black Dahlia is fully animated with full voice acting and new visual effects. Further, fans can expect a new story mode for Black Dahlia, more color palettes, fully translated tutorials, and an alternate voice pack.
Xbox Versions
The Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions of Skullgirls 2nd Encore launches in early 2023. Skullgirls 2nd Encore for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S features the base game and Season Pass 1 DLC characters. Overall, the Xbox release will bring parity with other systems. The Xbox 360 version will not be updated with new content, however.
Nintendo Switch Update
On January 3, the Nintendo Switch version of Skullgirls 2nd Encore will receive a massive update. The update brings parity with the other systems, including previously released Season Pass 1 content and characters. According to Hidden Variable, the update will complete replace the previous version of Skullgirls 2nd Encore with a near full rewrite of the game’s code. Fans can expect better performance, faster load times, and smoother online play on Switch.
Marie
Marie, the final Skullgirls 2nd Encore DLC character for Season Pass 1, launches sometime in 2023. The DLC character includes her own story mode just like Black Dahlia. Full voice acting for Annie of the Stars, Umbrella, Black Dahlia, and Marie’s story modes will be available once the last DLC character launches.
