With the recent teases from multiple members of Insomniac Games, many fans are wondering just when exactly Spider-Man 2 is going to release. The title was first revealed in September of 2021, with a release window of 2023. Spider-Man 2 is set to have both Miles and Peter team up against Kraven the Hunter and Venom.
When Will Spider-Man 2 Be Released?
In order to find this out, we have to look at Sony’s upcoming schedule for next year on PlayStation 5. First off, the game will most likely have a lengthy marketing cycle. This means anything before summer is extremely unlikely. Even if it was, titles such as Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores are already taking up April. Sony’s first standalone release of the year in the Summer is Final Fantasy XVI. Although this is not a first-party title, Sony will be treating it as such, as they did with Final Fantasy VII Remake. They paid for six months of exclusivity for the title, so do not expect Spider-Man 2, arguably their biggest release of the year, to release alongside FFXVI.
This takes us to July when Spider-Man 2 could release. Anything from this point on is free for the title to release. Our guess is that the game will release in late Summer or early Fall 2023. An August-September release feels right, especially considering that this is the only PlayStation title that has been dated for next year. While it could absolutely slip into the Holiday, it makes sense to launch right at the beginning of Fall. This would follow what the first game did, launching on September 7, 2018.
We hope we will magically be able to get our hands on the game earlier than July, however, it just does not seem likely considering the releases already planned.
Spider-Man 2 launches exclusively on PlayStation 5 in 2023.
