Final Fantasy XVI development is 95% complete, release date and demo coming soon

More news arriving by the end of the year.

Final Fantasy XVI development is 95% complete according to a recent Famitsu interview with key Square Enix staff, and more news is coming soon.

Famitsu recently sat down with Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida, director Hiroshi Takai, and creative director Kazutoyo Maehiro to discuss the game. Development is nearly complete, and the exact release date for Final Fantasy XVI will arrive by the end of 2022. Currently, the game’s release window is slated for summer 2023. Although not mentioned within the interview itself, The Game Awards 2022 could be the time and place for the reveal of Final Fantasy XVI’s release date.

Final Fantasy XVI’s developers were interviewed by Dengeki Online as well. In the Dengeki interview, it was revealed that a Final Fantasy XVI demo is in Square Enix’s current plans. However, the demo would likely release closer to the launch of the full game. This means players can expect the demo to release sometime in mid-2023.

Once development reaches 100% completion, the game will reach gold status. Going gold means development is complete and the game is ready for mass production. Square Enix will most likely make an official announcement once Final Fantasy XVI has gone gold.

Lastly, Final Fantasy XVI releases in summer 2023 for PlayStation 5 worldwide.
