Various interviews with Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida are being published, sharing insight into the game’s second trailer titled ‘Dominance.’ Alongside these new interviews, Square Enix confirmed Final Fantasy XVI will receive a new trailer in Fall 2022. Story and world details will be shared this fall as well.
According to Yoshida, the game is playable from start to finish. A lot of voice over work still needs to be recorded in several other languages. Additionally, the development team is doing a lot of playtesting to fine-tune the game’s difficulty levels and combat. Final touches will be made to cutscenes and full-scale debugging process will be carried out before release.
Clive Rosfield is the main character of Final Fantasy XVI, but will be accompanied by AI-controlled party members. However, the party members act as support since the game is single-player and action-driven. Additionally, the game features Eikon vs Eikon battles with different gameplay elements. Each battle will not feel the same, and presents different opportunities to gain the upper hand.
Masayoshi Soken is a long-time friend and co-worker of Yoshida, serving as the composer of FFXVI. Yoshida says Soken’s musical style inherits a lot from Nobuo Uematsu, who is regarded as the father of Final Fantasy music. Soken best understands what directors Hiroshi Takai and Kazutoyo Maehiro imagine the score of a new Final Fantasy game would be like. Furthermore, Soken strives to follow in Uematsu’s footsteps and deliver a memorable score.
