*Update – 4/27* According to various sources closed to Sony, the PlayStation Store team will be creating the game trials. PlayStation games are still required to have game trials if the title is priced at $34 and up, but 3rd party developers will not be solely in-charge of creating said trials (Thanks, Kotaku).
*Original* Developers are now required to create game trials timed for 2 hours at minimum for PlayStation games priced $34 or more. These game trials will be included in the new PlayStation Plus Premium Tier. The news came from a Game Developer report citing a new update to the PlayStation developer portal. The requirement does not include PlayStation games priced less than $34 or PS VR games.
The aforementioned game trials must be available for at least 12 months once published. Developers have up to 3 months to release a game trial. Furthermore, Sony Interactive Entertainment is open to custom game demos instead of timed game trials. Approval must be given by Sony Interactive Entertainment for these custom demos. Lastly, publishers are still able to approve free game weekends, demos and trials for all users.
