Famitsu shared new details regarding the decision making for development of Kingdom Hearts IV! According to Square Enix’s Tai Yasue, it was determined that developing a Verum Rex game and Kingdom Hearts IV at the same time would be difficult. As a result, Yasue and Tetsuya Nomura decided to give priority to the development of KH IV.
Verum Rex is still a possibility once an opportunity arises. Speculation implies that Verum Rex could be a spin-off or non-numbered KH title that plays a key role in the Lost Master Arc. The new story arc begins with KH IV, which was teased throughout KH III, KH III: ReMind, KH: Melody of Memory and KH: Union Cross. One thing is certain, KH IV is on the way and Yozora’s involvement plays an important part going forward.
More news about Kingdom Hearts IV is coming after Summer 2022. In August, the final chapter of Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road brings a close to the tale of Xehanort’s rise to darkness. This Fall, the closed beta test for Kingdom Hearts: Missing-Link is expected to arrive for iOS and Android.
