Sony to extend PS4 production throughout 2022 due to PS5 shortages

With the PS5 shortages affecting sales and causing frustration for customers, Sony will continue PS4 production in 2022 (Thanks, VGC). Around 1 million PS4s will be produced throughout 2022 to “offset some of the pressure on PS5 production”. Sony’s 1st party games such as Gran Turismo 7 and Horizon: Forbidden West are coming to both PS4 and PS5. This means players who haven’t upgraded to PS5 may still enjoy the aforementioned games to help ease the wait. Hopefully, Sony manages to secure important components and eventually increase PS5 production. Major industry leading companies such as AMD state that component shortages are expected to last going into 2023.
