2021 was a great year for Switch with the platform making up most of the top 30 best selling weekly games in Famitsu sales charts. According to Gamesindustry.biz, Famitsu shared the total amount of Switch units sold in Japan and it took that #1 spot by far. In 2021, the Switch sold 5.3 million Switch units at retail with the PS5 coming in at #2 with 942,798 units sold. It also outsold all other consoles (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo 3DS) combined, 5 times over. All other consoles would come in at a combined total of 1.1 million units sold. In 2020, Switch sold 5.1 million retail units in Japan.
