With Gran Turismo 7 on the horizon, the series celebrates its 24th anniversary today in Japan! Gran Turismo released 24 years ago back on December 23rd 1997 in Japan for the original PlayStation. The game was revolutionary for introducing high fidelity simulation racing to the platform. Creator Kazunori Yamauchi and development team Polyphony Digital introduced the real driving simulator with over 140 cars across dozens of tracks. Over 10 million copies were sold worldwide and spawned a fan-favorite franchise of racing games across all PlayStation home consoles and even PSP.
