    Paper Mario: The Origami King datamines reveal that the developers considered using EXP in-game at one point during development

    Experience points are a staple of RPGs, rewarding players with stat increases and unlocks with each level gained. Nintendo has been experimenting with Paper Mario away from the traditional RPG genre. However, it seems that The Origami King was leaning back into the RPG genre. Datamines have revealed that at one point, developers were using EXP in development of the game. The use of EXP in Paper Mario: The Origami King might have been scrapped in favor of coins and confetti. Either way, the information is lacking as its only present in a few lines of code.
