Blade Runner Enhanced Edition coming later this year to consoles and PC

In a somewhat random announcement, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively announced that a remake of the classic 1997 point-and-click game Blade Runner is in the way. The game is based on the 1982 movie of the same name, yet doesn’t follow the plot of the movie.

The game – originally released by the long-disbanded Westwood Studios, known for the Command & Conquer series – will be developed and released by Nightdive Studios in partnership with Alcon Entertainment, the studio behind the original film.

In the interview with THR, Nightdive says that although the original source code for the game was thought to be lost, the game was reverse engineered through their proprietary KEX game engine, previously used to do the same for the original Turok and another classic, System Shock. Blade Runner Enhanced Edition will feature updated controls and graphics while still feeling akin to the original.

The game released later this year for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC. Stay tuned here at Final Weapon for updates!
