Konami Officially announces Beatmania IIDX Lightning Edition Cabinets

In a surprise announcement, Konami have lifted the curtain on their new Beatmania IIDX Lightning Edition cabinets, the first major redesign of Beatmania IIDX’s cabinet in just over 20 years since the first game was released into Japanese arcades.

While features haven’t been officially confirmed yet, the following changes can be seen:

    • A second screen has been added presumably to replace the old effector sliders
    • The control panel has been redesigned with some buttons being relocated
    • Headphone jacks have been added to the machine, a long requested feature
    • What looks like extra sound proofing has been added to the areas surrounding the control panel and screen.

More information is slated to be revealed on December 13th with the cabinet most likely also appearing at JAEPO 2020.

Stay tuned to Final Weapon for more news on the Lightning Edition cabinet as well as my first impressions from JAEPO 2020 in February.
