PlatinumGames’ Hideki Kamiya tell fans asking for Astral Chain on PS4 to basically “ask my publisher and investor Nintendo”

When asked about Astral Chain on PS4, the famous twitter blocker and legendary video game developer, Hideki Kamiya replied:

何ででしょうね…マリオもゼルダもメトロイドも出せばいいのに…PS嫌いなんですかね…開発請負の我々には分からないので出資・版元の任天堂に聞いてみてもらえますか…? RT @ririnnrinnemu 何でPS4にアストロルチェイン出さないんですか?
PS嫌いなんですか?

Which basically translates to:

“Well… it would be great to have Mario, Zelda, and Metroid on the PS4 too… As for me, do I hate PlayStation…? I’m just a developer fulfilling my contractual obligations so I don’t know, maybe you can try asking my publisher and investor Nintendo?”

The man himself is basically confirming yet again that Nintendo owns the full rights to Astral Chain as they funded and published the entire project. Seems like many didn’t know that it has already been confirmed months ago. Either way, we can be sure of two things, we won’t see the soon to be Astral Chain series on any other platform any time soon and Lappy is a Nintendo mascot confirmed. What are your thoughts on exclusivity? If you don’t own a Switch already, would you buy one for Astral Chain?

Konami EU President Masami Saso: Konami plans to increase its portfolio, more projects and Yu-Gi-Oh success

Konami

Gamesindustry.biz sat down with Konami EU President Masami Saso for an interview recently. In this interview, many interesting tidbits about the importance of console games and projects were discussed. 2019 marks the fifth year of consistent growth for Konami. Over the past few years, more console games have been developed and published by the company. Some of these games include Super Bomberman R, several Yu Gi Oh titles and Contra: Rogue Corps on Nintendo Switch.

Mobile games and PES have been a major factor of success for the company as well. Another example of success was the release of Yu-Gi-Oh Switch exclusive game, Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution. Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution outsold all retail games across EMEAA territories during release week. Konami EU President Saso states that Konami plans to increase their portfolio for both current and next-gen platforms. Multi-platform strategies will remain.

Here’s the excerpt from the interview:

“Even with new platforms coming out, we believe high-end console games are the most important. We challenge for innovative ideas and technology within our console games and apply them to other devices, so we will continue to put effort into our console games. We also plan to increase our portfolio. In addition to the multi-device titles for PES and Yu-Gi-Oh, we plan to work on projects with other globally known IPs in the near future.”

With this in mind, its safe to assume that Konami will release more titles across platforms such as PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Stay tuned at Final Weapon for more news regarding Konami and new releases down the line.

You can eat Slimes in Dragon Quest XI S, and just in case you needed to know, they taste like limes.

This might seem like random info straight out of a fan headcanon but this is actually real, Dragon Quest‘s iconic onion-shaped monster is confirmed edible by the developers and Nintendo themselves during a PAX interview.

This is far from being the only news here as the Nintendo thread keeps everyone informed, live on the current PAX panel featuring Producer Hokuto Okamoto, Director Masato Yagi, and Hikari Kubota, the Assistant Producer. The developers also revealed that they created design documents with rough sketches and character details to send to legendary Akira Toriyama. Mr. Toriyama refined the concept and sent back the updated character art. This example is Rab, who ended with a more charming look than the original vision.

The team also experimented with a more dramatic appearance for characters who are “Pepped Up,” but decided against it.

The developers took extra care to impart warmth and humanity to the characters and language of the world, which is series creator Mr. Horii’s design style. This carries into the localization of the game through various puns.

And that’s pretty much all Dragon Quest XI S relevant info they revealed on this very fun panel. You can find the thread here.
