New chat filtering options for Xbox One rolling out to Xbox Insiders, consoles later this month

The people at Microsoft have introduced a new text filtering option on Xbox One consoles, giving players more control over what kinds of messages they receive. The company says this is both to improve parental controls and reduce online harassment and bullying.

When it officially launches, you’ll be able to select a set of new automated text filters soon. Those will start with private messages, and then expand into other areas like profiles, Clubs, and your Activity Feed. The filters come in four settings–Friendly, Medium, Mature, and Unfiltered, which you’ll be able to set up yourself manually.

“For example, we recognize that while some adults use profanity without any ill intent while gaming, parents with small children likely won’t find this same experience acceptable.  Similarly, there are differences between the everyday speech you’d use with your friends and harmful insults that could negatively impact anyone. With this in mind, we’ve ensured our safety settings are configurable along a spectrum from most filtered to least filtered so you can choose what is best for you.”

When a message comes through to you, it will hit the filter, then you’ll see a message warning that potentially offensive content was sent, and from there, you can click on the placeholder to change the settings. Adult accounts will be able to see the content that has been filtered out. Child accounts will be set to the highest filtering level by default, but parents can change it as needed.

The text filters are live for Xbox Insiders now, and will begin rolling out to everyone else later this month. Once the feature is live for you, you can find it under Settings > General > Online safety & family > Message safety.

Postal has returned with a proper sequel to the second game, it’s now available on Steam Early Access

Developer Running With Scissors is known for being a pretty interesting company known for making the first 2 Postal games which are quite controversial in their own rights. Postal 2 especially was banned in several countries because of the high level of violences. That same developer is back and finally making a proper sequel to the second game. Of course before now there was Postal 3 which was released in 2011 but that’s largely ignored for good reason, it’s terrible.

Postal 4: No Regerts features the same daily set of Errands in a non-linear fashion and Postal Dude is now voiced by John St. John (The voice of Duke Nukem) You can buy the game on Steam Early Access for $17.99 until October 21 when it will revert back to $19.99.

Atelier Ryza producer Junzo Hosoi comments on challenges involving Switch development, pleased with Switch’s momentum and success

Nintendo Everything has released more tidbits from their interview with Atelier Ryza producer Junzo Hosoi. In the interview, Hosoi speaks about the team’s challenges on the Switch platform. The team wanted to make sure that Atelier Ryza on Switch matches the PS4 version’s visuals. Along with this, Hosoi stated that the Switch is worth supporting. The platform has bolstered the series’ success with each new entry. He states that it’s “a good platform for us to have expanded onto.” Lastly, here’s the excerpt from Nintendo Everything’s interview:

“We definitely want to bring out the same product as for the PS4. Looking from the graphics aspect, being able to come up with the visual representation and especially the frame rate, we’ve found that to be challenging.

With the PS4’s buttons on the controller – circle, square, cross and triangle – they have colors associated with them. We usually use those colors also within the game to associate certain buttons, but with the Switch’s A, B, X, Y – there aren’t any colors associated. They’re all a single color. So we’ve had some challenges in terms of representing that.”

Atelier Ryza releases on October 29th for PS4, Switch and PC. Stay tuned at Final Weapon for the latest Japanese gaming news!

Zeta and Vaseraga revealed for Granblue Fantasy: Versus

Cygames has revealed two new characters for Granblue Fantasy: Versus! Zeta and Vaseraga will join the roster. In addition, the Japanese box-art was revealed. Provided below are character overviews for Zeta and Vaseraga:

Zeta

This fearless fighter belongs to the Society, an organization which hunts primal beasts. She has formed a contract with the seal weapon known as the Spear of Arvess.
She and her partner Vaseraga are charged by the Society with a variety of missions. Though the two often butt heads, each has the other’s complete trust. Perhaps it is the contrast between Zeta’s upbeat but stubborn personality and Vaseraga’s unshakable calm which makes them such good partners.
In addition to the fierce mid-range spear attacks which keep her enemies at a distance, Zeta also has a talent for lightning-quick aerial combat.

Vaseraga

This towering Draph warrior belongs to the Society, an organization which hunts primal beasts. He has formed a contract with the seal weapon known as Great Scythe Grynoth.
The intimidating size of his blade and his immunity to pain sap opponents of their will to fight. Though his somber bearing and curt speech can make him seem unapproachable, he is in fact a calm, kind person who will always go out of his way to help those in need.
His indomitable spirit, raw physical might, and inability to feel pain make for an overwhelmingly aggressive fighting style. Opponents are advised to approach with extreme caution.

Persona 5: The Royal doesn’t plan on eating the entirety of your harddrive as it only weighs 30GB

Unlike most AAA games these past few years, Persona 5R is here to remind the industry once again that you can indeed have a game with gorgeous visuals and hundreds of hours of content without having it weigh thrice than it needs.

Coming from a Japanese twitter user, dolly_silent, they claimed that Persona 5 The Royal will only weigh ten more gigabytes, making it 30 total. Knowing that The Royal still uses the vast majority of Persona 5‘s assets, it is indeed good news that there seems to be this much additional content.

Either way here in the west, we still have a few more months to wait before finding out! For info, Persona 5 The Royal is referred to as a remix or even a remake of the critically acclaimed JRPG by Atlus. Set to release in March of 2020 in the west.
