The Resident Evil 3 demo is now available in Austrailia and New Zealand on PS4 and Xbox One

The demo for Resident Evil 3 remake has dropped on Austrailian/New Zealand servers for PS4 and Xbox One. The Steam version of the demo drops March 19th at 1PM ET. To learn more about the demo, read below!

The “Resident Evil 3: Raccoon City Demo” lets players step into the boots of the legendary heroine Jill Valentine, as she teams up with Carlos Oliveira and the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service (U.B.C.S.) to evacuate civilians from a crumbling Raccoon City. While Jill is fighting to save innocent civilians, she must also save herself from the relentless bioweapon Nemesis, whose sole objective is her demise. The Raccoon City Demo will reveal a brand new cinematic trailer exclusive to demo participants upon completion.

As if Jill’s battle was not daunting enough, Capcom also invites players to test their limits with a challenging Mr. Charlie scavenger hunt within the “Raccoon City Demo.” Twenty Mr. Charlie statues are strewn across Raccoon City; can you seek and destroy all of them with Nemesis hot on your heels? An on-screen counter will help players keep track of their acquired statues and a final count will be displayed upon the demo’s completion.

Resident Evil 3 launches on April 3rd, 2020.

Opinion: What I’m hoping to see during tomorrow’s PS5 presentation

Most people that are keeping up with next generation hardware probably know what the Xbox Series X is, but with how little we know about the PS5, maybe not it. Just as we were all losing hope, Sony decided to tweet out this morning that tomorrow Mark Cerny, PS5 lead system architect, will be hosting a livestream “providing a deep dive into PS5’s system architecture, and how it will shape the future of games.” I thought I’d take the time to talk about what I’m hoping to see tomorrow during the presentation.

PS5 and Dualshock 5 Design

Sony, it’s time to reveal what it looks like. We know what the development kit looks like, patents and pictures have leaked, however what does the final product look like? Will it follow the PS4 and remain slim yet boxy, or will it follow Xbox Series X and move to more of a tower? Hopefully we find out tomorrow.

Ever since the development kit leaked, there have been countless memes about how the PS5 could look, and most of these mockups are flat out hilarious. I’ve attached a couple of my personal favorites that made me laugh below.

As you can see, some people have a very interesting envisionment of what the PS5 will look like. Personally, I don’t really care too much about how the console looks. The only thing I really care about is that it’s not too big and looks sleek. If it can do that, I’m more than happy.

Now there’s also another design I’m hoping to see tomorrow, that being one of the Dualshock 5. I know that there won’t be too much of a difference between Dualshock 4 & 5 (just like there isn’t much difference between the Xbox One and Xbox Series X controller), however I still am very interested to see what has changed, even if it is just one small thing. Sony has already confirmed one of these changes, being the addition of haptic feedback to the Dualshock 5. This will be replacing the rumble technology from the Dualshock 4. There are also rumors of biometric scanners making an appearance inside the Dualshock 5, so it would be interesting to see how that would be implemented.

PS5 Specs

So many people are anticipating this right here. Xbox revealed Series X’s specs yesterday, and it looks mighty impressive. There have been so many rumors about how many Teraflops of power PS5 would have, whether 9TF undercutting Series X’s 12TF, or even as high as 14TF. I really have no idea, but I just want to know what we’ll be working with. We know Sony is working with AMD, which is extremely promising, so we can expect similar results to Xbox Series X as they went with AMD as well. Sony has already confirmed that we will be receiving a high end SSD inside the PlayStation 5, but what I’m interested in is the size of said drive. Xbox Series X houses a 1TB high end SSD, so I’m expecting PlayStation 5 to follow suit, but if they were to go 2TB? That would be very nice. Luckily I’m pretty confident that Sony will be revealing some specs tomorrow at the presentation with Mark Cerny, so we shouldn’t have to wait much longer.

Backwards Compatibility PS1-PS4 Confirmed

Okay okay. I know that this probably isn’t likely, but hey this is an opinion article, and it’s what I want to see from Sony tomorrow. Having backwards compatibility that stretches across the entirety of the PlayStation brand would truly be monumental for Sony. So many people would be inclined to pick this console up, and it would make the switch so much easier. Let’s be honest, I feel that Sony is going to have a hard time to convince people to jump deck from PS4 to PS5 unless they have some killer launch title (more on that later). Having the ability to play any PlayStation game, regardless of console, would truly be the best case scenario for Sony and for fans of the PlayStation brand.

I think it’s much more likely that we just get backwards compatibility for PS4, but even then being able to run all of those games at native 4K, not upscaled, will be incredibly nice.

Pricing

I don’t expect this at all. No way will Sony make the first move, they will wait for Microsoft to announce pricing of the Xbox Series X first. However, I would love to see where they would be pricing it. At this point, I’m expecting both PS5 and Xbox Series X to be priced at $499. That’s a pretty good introductory price, and it’s not much of a raise, only up $100 for PS4 Pro owners, and $50 for Xbox One X owners. Regardless, don’t expect anything about pricing for the PlayStation 5 tomorrow.

Launch Day Games

Microsoft has already revealed that Halo: Infinite will be launching with Xbox Series X this Holiday, yet we know nothing about any games launching with Sony’s PlayStation 5. This has got to change. A exciting launch day title is the only way that Sony can convince me to buy a PS5 on launch day, otherwise I’ll be waiting until a game I’m interested in releases. Of course the core audience will buy in, but the majority of gamers won’t be interested until an exciting brand new game releases for the PlayStation 5. Hopefully we see something about a launch day game tomorrow, but I honestly doubt it. I expect them to focus much more on the technical side of things, like how quick the system is compared to the PS4 and PS4 Pro, etc.

Conclusion

That’s about all I’d like to see tomorrow at the presentation detailing PlayStation 5. Of course, I’ll happily take more, however I expect them to actually cover a mere fraction of what I’d like to see. Hopefully Sony will deliver some good news to us all tomorrow.

What would you like to see from the PlayStation 5 presentation with Mark Cerny tomorrow? Let me know down below and keep it here at Final Weapon for all things PlayStation 5!
