To continue the 20th anniversary celebration for the anime adaptation of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, a brand-new figure from the Coreful line will release later this month in Japanese arcades. The new Haruhi Suzumiya Coreful figure will first appear as prizes in Japanese arcades, with an exclusive variant also appears in Taito’s online crane games. Like other Coreful figures, the new figure will likely be released on Amazon in the near future.
Previous celebrations for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya were held as part of its “The Gratitude of Haruhi Suzumiya” project, which included a scale figure of Haruhi from KDcolle and a revival screening of The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya across 32 theaters in Japan. This past August, there was also a 20th anniversary exhibition held at the Sunshine City Exhibition Hall D in Tokyo.
Crunchyroll currently streams The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya with English subs and an English dub. Nagaru Tanigawa’s The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya light novel is also available for purchase in English at Yen Press.
Yen Press describes the novel as follows:
Haruhism has seized the nation with the release of the highly successful animated series DVD that was one of the top ten bestselling anime properties in 2007. Yen Press and Little, Brown Books for Young Readers will publish the novel and manga series back-to-back, with hardcovers of the novels with the original Japanese cover art for libraries and hardcore fans of the property.
When Haruhi Suzumiya introduces herself to Kyon by asking if he’s an alien, time traveler, or psychic, he knows his chances for a normal high school experience are ruined. Bold Haruhi takes a shine to him, and uses the force of her irrepressible personality to draft him into her club to find paranormal beings. Kyon soon discovers what she’s looking for: Haruhi herself has the power to destroy and create entire universes at her whim. But if she knew about her ability, it could spell disaster for everyone.
