The Crunchyroll Showcase panel at New York Comic Con 2026 saw the reveal of a new official trailer for The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn’t a Guy at All, the anime series based on the manga by Sumiko Arai. The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn’t a Guy at All is set to premiere on January 8, 2027 at 11:00 p.m. JST on NTV’s FuraAni programming block, and Crunchyroll will stream the anime.
Mariya Ise and Akari Kito will voice Mitsuki Koga and Aya Osawa respectively, reprising their roles from a drama CD adaptation.
The anime’s new cast members include:
- Kenjirō Tsuda as Jō
- Tasuku Hatanaka as Narita
- Yurina Amami as Chizuru
- Fairouz Ai as Mao
- Maiko Nomura as Kanna
The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn’t a Guy at All will be directed by Masashi Ishihama at anime studio CloverWorks, with Rino Yamasaki on series composition and Kanna Hirayama on character designs. Kōsuke Noma and Takayuki “Kojiro” Sasaki are the music composers.
The opening theme song will be “Breed” by Nirvana.
The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn’t a Guy at All manga is published by Pixiv Comic online and Kadokawa Shoten in print in Japan.

After hearing Mitsuki’s song, an excited Aya encourages her to share it with the world! Mitsuki is more than a little hesitant to put herself out there, but with Aya’s support and inspiration from a music festival they attend together, she begins to pursue her passion in earnest.
