Aniplex, XSEED Games, Marvelous, and TYPE-MOON have opened the official Fate/EXTRA Record Steam page, which is set to launch on January 28, 2027. A new trailer was also shown at the September 3 State of Play Japan broadcast. Wishlisting is available now.

The news comes after TYPE-MOON announced that Aniplex will publish Fate/EXTRA Record, with Meteorise (Bleach Rebirth of SoulsAtelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian) taking over development. The remake will also see an organizational change, with TYPE-MOON Studio BB, the original developers, stepping back.

In addition to Aniplex stepping in as publisher, Fate/EXTRA Record director Kazuya Niinou confirmed that he has resigned from his duties at TYPE-MOON Studio BB. Niinou apologized on X (formerly Twitter) for letting down fans and their expectations. He will be taking a break from game development to focus on current health issues he’s facing. Niinou also decided to remove himself from the staff credits for the game.

Fate/EXTRA Record was originally announced in 2020 with a slow drip of details being revealed over recent years. At one point, Bandai Namco was set to publish and release Fate/EXTRA Record in spring 2026, but the game was indefinitely delayed for a time, and the publisher pulled its involvement in the project.

Fate/EXTRA Record includes a number of new additions, and one of the remake’s key characters is Arcueid Brunestud, the main heroine of Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon-
