Kakao Games and The Grimm Entertainment have announced a partnership which will see the former developing games based on webtoon IPs owned by The Grimm Entertainment. This could include series such as Manager Kim, Lookism, and Viral Hit.
Kakao Games CEO Si-woo Lee said (via Anime News Network), “We expect our partnership with The Grimm Entertainment, which has powerful IP and a strong fanbase, to bring new experiences to players. We will work closely together to create games that can attract significant interest in global markets.”
The Grimm Entertainment CEO Hyung-soo Ahn said, “We are pleased to work with Kakao Games, which has extensive experience in game services. By combining our IP and webtoons with games, we hope to create another successful example of adapting a single IP across multiple forms of media.”
The news was announced through a Kakao Games press release. Kakao Games are releasing the upcoming Chrono Odyssey, which Final Weapon previewed last year, saying “Chrono Odyssey is very promising, but unfortunately, so much is holding it back. The combat is good, and the graphics, at first glance, look nice. However, it quickly comes undone as soon as you step into the world, whether it’s how the game looks bright or just how combat devolves into basic attacks.”
The Grimm Entertainment was founded by Tae-jun Pak, creator of Lookism. It owns IP that have been gaining popularity both in Korea and internationally. Its Webtoon Viral Hit has received an anime adaptation in 2024 and a live-action Japanese version in 2026.
