Horizon Hunters Gathering Reportedly Being Rebooted Internally

According to a report from Bloomberg, Guerilla Studios is “rebooting” Horizon Hunters Gathering after poor reception in closed alpha tests. Said reboot may remove all of the live service aspects of the game. 

Jason Schreier of Bloomberg states that “the plan now is to strip out the live-service component and turn it into more of a traditional cooperative multiplayer game with a story mode and a far smaller scope.” Further, he states that while the game is not cancelled, “the studio told staff in a meeting on Wednesday that they will have through December to impress executives with their next milestone.”

He also implies that none of Guerilla is working on the next entry in the Horizon franchise. Instead, all resources are seemingly focused towards Hunters Gathering. That said, they will reportedly be assigned to a different project before the year ends. For now, Horizon Hunters Gathering is still set to release at some point in the future on PlayStation 5 and PC. Lastly, the Steam page describes the game as follows:
