Edge of Memories is Still Planned to Launch in 2026

Technical work is all that's left before launch.

NACON has confirmed that Midgar Studio-developed RPG Edge of Memories is still planned to release in 2026. Midgar Studio has shut down, but a dedicated team is handling the technical aspects of Edge of Memories to ensure that the console and PC versions are ready. All of the creative work on Edge of Memories is already complete.

Here’s a message from the Edge of Memories development team, via the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account:

Hello everyone,

We know the news about Midgar Studio has been difficult to process, for the team and for many of you who’ve followed this project closely. Since the closure of the studio, you’ve had a lot of questions and we want to give you clarity on where things stand.

Edge of Memories will release later in 2026.

To be clear: Midgar closed because of financial troubles in the group, now under court-ordered restructuring. It had nothing to do with the game, the team’s work, or maximising profit. It’s exactly why we’re committed to handling the release right. They deserve as much.

The creative work is done. What’s left is technical: bringing the console and PC versions up to standard. A dedicated team is now handling that, with the same care and respect for what Midgar created. Fixes and polishing are in full swing, including some based on the Next Fest demo, and will continue after launch to ensure the highest quality gameplay experience.

The Midgar team spent years on this game, and we won’t let their hard work go to waste. It’s the result of talent and passion, made by a small team; for several of them, it is their first game ever. They deserve to see it reach players.

Edge of Memories carries the work of many people whose dedication should be rewarded with success. We intend to make that happen.

To the team at Midgar Studio, thank you for what you’ve created and everything you brought to Edge of Memories.

Edge of Memories launches in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam
