Nintendo has updated the Nintendo eShop page for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake with a new rating from the ESRB. It has rated the game E10+ for “Animated Blood and Fantasy Violence.”
While the original Ocarina of Time was given an E for Everyone rating, this was before ESRB created the E10+ classification. Currently, the release date for the remake is unknown, though Nintendo has confirmed that it will release in 2026. The release will commemorate the franchise’s 40th anniversary. The initial announcement trailer released during Summer Game Fest 2026.
The trailer is told in a storybook format and hints at the role of the Great Deku Tree and the Kokiri. It states that every Kokiri has a fairy attached to them, all except for one who doesn’t. This boy is revealed to be Link, who we see in a gorgeously new HD artstyle sleeping as the Triforce of Courage flashes on his hand. The trailer also hints calls back to some of the iconic tracks from the original game, including Saria’s Song.
Recently, Nintendo announced that The Legend of Zelda film will now release on April 30, 2027, instead of its previous release date of May 7. It’s now releasing one week earlier after it was previously delayed from March 26 to May 7. The movie will star Bo Bragason as Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Link. Previously, Shigeru Miyamoto showcased the official designs for both characters via a social media post. Wes Ball directs the upcoming live-action The Legend of Zelda movie. In the past, Ball directed The Maze Runner franchise and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
