Publisher Kepler Interactive and developer Shapefarm have revealed the opening animation for Orbitals. It will release on September 3 for Nintendo Switch 2.

The opening cutscene previews the story of Orbitals as well as its stunning animation style. Check out the full opening animation for Orbitals below:

An Orbitals Deluxe Edition will be available featuring new skins for Maki and Omura, two new ship skins, the digital soundtrack, and a digital artbook. Players who own the Standard Edition can also purchase the Deluxe Upgrade Pack to get the Deluxe Edition’s contents. The game will receive a full physical cartridge release. Lastly, Orbitals is available to pre-order now on the Nintendo eShop. It describes the game as follows:

Grab a friend and launch into Orbitals, an intergalactic 2-player co-op adventure set in a wholly new retro anime world.

Team up as Maki and Omura, two inseparable explorers with a whole lot more determination than experience. You’ll brave the perils of space in search of help for their crumbling station home, now trapped within a supernatural cosmic storm.

Our duo must venture beyond the storm and into the unknown in a desperate bid to save their home. It’ll take brains, bravery, and teamwork to make it through!

Orbitals captures the warmth and style of classic Japanese anime, brought to life with hand-crafted cinematic cutscenes from Studio Massket, full Japanese and English voice acting, and an original soundtrack that channels the magic of the era.

Built from the ground up for asymmetric 2-player co-op, either in local split-screen or online with Nintendo Switch™ 2 GameShare, Orbitals rewards smart teamwork and clear communication. Use each character’s unique tools to open the path forward, overcome danger, and meet out-of-this-world creatures and characters on a bombastic adventure.
