Thunder 3 Anime Reveals Opening Theme Song

The official website for the upcoming anime adaptation of Yuki Ikeda’s Thunder 3 manga revealed on Sunday that singer-songwriter Yuri will perform the anime’s opening theme song “Thunderbolt.” The anime will air on July 8 at 24:45 JST on Fuji TV. Netflix will stream the anime as it airs.

The anime will star:

  • Sayumi Suzushiro as Pyontarō
  • Natsumi Kawaida as Tsubame
  • Eri Akiyama as Hiroshi
  • Honoka Mitsubachi as Futaba

Hiroyuki Seshita, known for his work on Knights of Sidonia: Ajin, is directing the anime, and Hiroshi Seko is overseeing the series scripts. -otoha- performs the anime’s ending theme song “Shururerira.” Yuki Ikeda began serializing Thunder 3 in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine in 2022. The manga took social media by storm thanks to its plot twists and stunning artwork, all of which was created by Ikeda. Thunder 3 was also nominated for the “Next Manga Awards 2022” shortly after its debut.

Recently, a panel titled “Thunder 3 Premiere Panel with Production Staff” took place during Anime Expo 2026. It featured director Hiroyuki Seshita and composer Hiroshi Seko, the latter of whom previously worked on Attack on Titan: The Final Season, Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, Gachiakuta, Inuyashiki, and Ajin. Kodansha publishes the Thunder 3 series worldwide, and so far, 8 volumes are available. It describes the first volume as follows:

Pyontaro is a middle schooler whose little sister, Futaba, simply adores him. One day, he and his buddies—the so-called “Small Three”—decide to watch a weird disc their teacher lent them. Little do the boys realize this disc is linked to another universe…and while they aren’t looking, Futaba gets sucked in! Can Pyontaro and his friends find Futaba? And just what is this other world they’ve discovered?!
