Mika Pikazo said, “RE:BEL ROBOTICA, which I originally created as a doujinshi back in 2017, is being adapted into a TV anime! After many years of discussions and collaborations with many people, we have created a story about humans living in a world where happiness has become something that can be taken for granted. Since I was a child, I have been preoccupied with the concept of happiness and have constantly questioned living within a framework of duties and restrictions. This work, created with the hope of finding something in this world, features cute characters while expressing hope and strangeness through the various lives and activities of the humans.”

Amuse Creative Studio describes the anime as follows:

Robotica. Machines made in the very likeness of humankind.

Robotica. Beings that exist to serve humanity.

Robotica. Created to bring people happiness.

The year 2050 —

In a near-future Tokyo where dramatic leaps in information technology have promised every person a comfortable, contented life: Shibuya. An enigmatic girl named Lily. Her very existence will shake the world.

Pikazo launched the Re:bel Robotica project as a self-published doujin work at the summer 2017 Comiket. ARCH would begin working with Pikazo in 2019 to further develop the project, leading to multiple light novel releases by various authors.
