According to Bloomberg, Tencent is reportedly planning to end its investment in Marvelous, as well as other Japanese game studios. This is seemingly due to “reassessment of the company’s global portfolio.”
The company is evaluating its minority holdings in many studios, and is supposedly preparing to sell stakes back to the management team of certain companies, even if its at a loss. However, its investments in From Software and Platinum Games will be unaffected. Only time will tell if these reports come to fruition, and what will become of Marvelous as a result.
Marvelous’ most recent major game, Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion, is available now for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam). Final Weapon reviewed Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion and gave it a 4 out of 5 score, noting that the game is “a worthy sequel to the original Daemon X Machina, as it improves on its predecessor in nearly every regard.” Lastly, the Steam page describes the game as follows:
