Kadokawa’s consolidated earnings results for fiscal year ended March 2026 reiterated that FromSoftware plans to release The Duskbloods and Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition in 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2. A release date for The Duskbloods and Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition were not revealed yet for Switch 2, but the consolidated earnings results did note that FromSoftware and Kadokawa will work to “expand the fan base globally” during the current fiscal year ending in March 2027. This means that 2026 will be a prime year for FromSoftware fans, so the drought of news pertaining to FromSoftware’s upcoming releases should be coming to an end soon.
The Duskbloods is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive title that was initially presented with a rough outline to Nintendo as a barebones project by Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki. It’s a PvPvE game that focuses on online multiplayer, while retaining the key gameplay elements and features of Souls games that FromSoftware is known for.
The protagonists of The Duskbloods are known as Bloodsworn, a group whose members achieved extraordinary abilities through the use of special blood, similarly to vampires. The Bloodsworn are competing for something known as “First Blood,” and as human society reaches its end, First Blood flows in an event called the “Twilight of Humanity.” There’s no fixed era or location, but The Duskbloods features more traditional Gothic and Victorian-style maps, along with some depicting the end of the early modern era.
Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will release in 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2. Originally, the Switch 2 version was planned to release in 2025, but it was delayed for additional development time in order to optimize the game’s performance. Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will feature the base game and the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree expansion in one package. Moreover, the game will feature new armor and customization features for Torrent’s appearance.
