Sony Interactive Entertainment has released its financial results for the three months ended on March 31, 2026, revealing that PlayStation 5 sales have reached a total of 93.7 million units worldwide.
The PlayStation 5 sales show that only 1.5 million units were sold from January 1 to March 31, which is down 0.9 million from the same period during the previous fiscal year. 125 million active users were on PlayStation Network as of December 31, which is up 1 million from the same period exactly one year ago. However, this total is down 7 million from the 132 million active users recorded from the quarter ended on December 31, 2024.
Combined PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 software sales reached 74.6 million units during the fourth quarter, resulting in a 1.5 million decrease year-over-year. 5.8 million of the software sales were first-party games, which is down 100,000 units from the same period in the previous fiscal year. Further, 85% of the software sales were full game digital downloads, resulting in a 5% year-over-year increase from the same period in the previous fiscal year.
Previously, Sony had confirmed that Ghost of Yōtei reached 3.3 million copies sold as of November 2—32 days after the game’s initial release. Ghost of Yōtei is available now for PlayStation 5, and it’s still not available on PC at the time of this writing. Final Weapon reviewed Ghost of Yōtei and gave it a 4/5 score, noting that the game is “a great evolution by the foundation that Sucker Punch built with Ghost of Tsushima.”
