A new X (formerly Twitter) account has opened and announced that Jura’s Kanojo no Tomodachi (My Girlfriend’s Friend) manga is getting a TV anime adaptation in 2026. To celebrate the announcement, Jura released a new illustration for the upcoming Kanojo no Tomodachi anime. A new key visual from the anime staff was also revealed.
Jura launched the manga in Kodansha’s YanMaga Web in May 2021. Kodansha published the manga’s sixth compiled book volume in October 2025.
The story of Kanojo no Tomodachi focuses on Takeru, a high school boy with a girlfriend named Kaori. Kaori confessed her feelings to him and became his first-ever girlfriend, but Kaori’s friend, Tomoko, poses a problem as she begins to seduce him.
WWWave Corporation’s Deregula anime label will produce the anime. The company also owns the ComicFesta web manga service and AnimeFesta programming block, so it will likely be streaming on AnimeFesta as well.
Deregula will also produce a TV anime of Eroki and Shinko Konoshiro’s Ushiro no Shōmen Kamui-san (Kamui-san Directly Behind You) manga this July. There will be on-air and “Deregula” (uncensored) versions of the Ushiro no Shōmen Kamui-san anime when it premieres.
