Compile Heart has revealed new details about the battle system and features of Neptunia Unlimited, the next mainline entry in the long-running Neptunia series. The battle system of Neptunia Unlimited centers around characters battling after they’ve transformed into Goddesses.

There’s a sense of speed that players can experience from the beginning of the battle, along with the Goddesses’ overwhelming power. The Goddess Transformation is activated with a single button at any time in both dungeons and battle. Goddesses can keep fighting until their HP hits 0 or the player cancels them manually.

Characters can use Combo Skills as regular attacks, forgoing the need for complex controls. By mashing a single button, players can enjoy combo chains and flashy moves. In Goddess mode, characters can unleash a Finish Combo after launching a Battle Combo 3 times to deal massive damage.

Players can make use of Tactical Skills, which are also character-exclusive skills that can be activated with a single button by spending the Tactical Gauge. Combo Skills can also connect to Tactical Skills. The Tactical Gauge can also be spent on Tactical Link to summon allies nearby and provide assist to their Tactical Skills. By doing so, players can chain combos while receiving assists and raising the overall Damage Rate during combos.

Each character has one Trigger Skill, which is a special skill with unique effects. Effects include offensive, defensive, and supportive enhancements. The four Goddesses use the following Trigger Skills:

  • Neptune (Purple Heart): Nep Entry – Quickly closes in on the enemy
  • Ciel (Blue Heart): Adaptive Impact – Temporarily become invincible and launch a slash attack
  • Blanc (White Heart): Kettefonin Teresa – Temporarily take control of all enemy targets in range.
  • Vert (Green Heart): Micro Veil – Guaranteed critical rate for allies in range

Characters can also unleash a unique and powerful finisher called an Exe Drive, which can be activated by filling its dedicated gauge. Players can deal massive damage while seeing a cinematic scene unfold.

There will also be dedicated skills in Doomsday Resistance Battle, which sees all 11 Goddesses fight against enormous Doomsday Bosses like Storm Shark. When certain conditions are fulfilled, characters can launch a large-scale Doomsday Skill to turn the tides of battle. However, players must consider the unique rules of each boss. Each character can also perform a powerful Doomsday Counter Skill once per battle to overwhelm the boss or save you from defeat.

Neptunia Unlimited features a flight system that lets the Goddesses soar the skies as they wish. There will also be enemies with gimmicks that make use of the airborne status, and characters can perform an Air Dash to fly faster. This system allows the Goddesses to explore fields more convenient and find items at high places. If a battle commences while moving airborne, characters can still move freely. Moreover, some parts of the field may be areas where characters cannot transform into Goddesses, but finding the root cause of the issue can allow them to transform again and obtain a rare item.

Neptunia Unlimited launches on August 27 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The game costs 8,580 yen, and the PlayStation 4 version is digital-only. Further, a Neptunia Unlimited Limited Edition will cost 19,800 yen and feature the physical game, a special box with packaging illustration by Tsunako, premium art book, soundtrack CD, the Season Pass, and a Divine Cross promotional card, according to the game’s official website.
