A&R Atelier has announced Ecco the Dolphin: Complete, a collection that combines the series’ past with a brand-new entry. The release date and platforms for said collection are currently unknown.

According to a press release, the collection will bring together games “from the 8-bit Master System era through the 16-bit Genesis/Mega Drive generation and into a brand-new contemporary game built for the modern era.” Each game will be remastered and developed by the original Ecco development team, reunited after more than 30 years. The team includes original creator Ed Annunziata alongside members of the original composition, art, and programming teams. It will also feature built-in speedrunning support, achievements, and leaderboard.

Annunziata previously confirmed that remasters of Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco the Dolphin: The Tides of Time were being planned. Previously, according to an interview with Annunziata interview at Xbox Wire, a third Ecco the Dolphin game would only enter development once the remastered games are complete. However, it seems the remastered games and new release will launch side-by-side. The official website for Ecco the Dolphin is live with a countdown timer that will end on April 25 at 9:00 a.m. PT / 12:00 p.m. ET.

SEGA filed two new trademarks for Ecco the Dolphin back on December 27, 2023 in Japan. These were then made public on January 14, 2025. The first of the two trademarks from SEGA is for the Ecco the Dolphin title. The second trademark is simply “Ecco,” the series protagonist. More details about the future of the Ecco franchise, including the platforms and release date for Ecco the Dolphin: Complete, will likely surface in the coming days and weeks.
