Kadokawa has revealed a new promotional video and key visual for the upcoming anime adaptation of Rinne Ishida and Izumi’s Matsurika Kanriden (The Tale of the Scholar-Official Matsurika) light novel series. The video reveals the anime’s staff, cast and the January 2027 release window.

Ishida published the first light novel in the Matsurika Kanriden series back in July 2017, with illustrations by Izumi. The 17th volume of the Matsurika Kanriden series was released on April 15, 2025 in Japan. The series is still ongoing with over 2 million copies in circulation.
Takase launched the manga adaptation of the novels in Akita Shoten’s Monthly Princess magazine in August 2018. Akita Shoten published the manga’s 12th compiled book volume on October 16, 2025.
