Pokémon GO Bug Out Event Features Blipbug and New GO Pass

Blipbug makes its Pokémon GO debut.

Niantic and The Pokémon Company have announced the Pokémon GO Bug Out Event will be held from March 17 at 10:00 a.m. to March 23 at 8:00 p.m. local time. Bug Out will mark the Pokémon GO debuts of Blipbug, Dottler, and Orbeetle.

During the event, Pokémon GO players can use 25 Blipbug Candy to evolve Blipbug into Dottler and 100 Blipbug Candy to evolve Dottler into Orbeetle. There will be some notable event bonuses, including a variety of Pokémon that will be attracted to regular Lure Modules with an increased chance of being Shiny.  

The following Pokémon will appear more regularly during the event: 

  • March 17 at 10:00 a.m. to March 19 at 10:00 a.m. local time
    • Paras
    • Sizzlipede
  • March 19 at 10:00 a.m. to March 21 at 10:00 a.m. local time
    • Cutiefly
    • Sizzlipede
  • March 21 at 10:00 a.m. to March 23 at 8:00 p.m. local time
    • Combee
    • Sizzlipede

There will also be Major Milestones on the event’s GO Pass with the following bonuses:

  • Tier 1
    • 2× XP for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better
  • Tier 2
    • 2× Candy for successfully catching Pokémon
    • GO Pass Deluxe: 3× Candy for successfully catching Pokémon

Caterpie, Dwebble, Sizzlipede, Nymble and Scyther will appear as event-themed Pokémon, and players can earn a variety of rewards and more encounters by completing Field Research tasks. 

The following Pokémon will appear in raids: 

  • One-Star Raids
    • Blipbug
  • Three-Star Raids
    • Pinsir
    • Scizor
    • Kleavor

The GO Pass and GO Pass Deluxe for Bug Out will be available in Pokémon GO, with the Deluxe pass being a paid option ($4.99) with upgraded upgraded rewards and faster progression. For $6.99, players can upgrade to the GO Pass Deluxe + 6 Ranks and automatically earn enough GO Points to reach Rank 7.
