Nihon Falcom has announced that Kyoto Xanadu, previously dubbed the Tokyo Xanadu New Project, will launch in summer 2026 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. A new trailer and various screenshots for Kyoto Xanadu were also revealed.

Here’s an overview of Kyoto Xanadu, via Nintendo:

Set in an alternate reality where Kyoto is the capital of Japan, Kyoto Xanadu players take on monsters and mysteries coming from the great labyrinth known as Xanadu. As a student, players will challenge the labyrinth and grow through their battles within Xanadu while also deepening bonds with various people during your daily life. Uncover the truth hidden both in the labyrinth and Kyoto itself when Kyoto Xanadu launches on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch this summer.

The Nintendo Switch version of Tokyo Xanadu eX+ is available now in the west and in Japan. The Nintendo Switch version features 60 FPS support, a revamped localization, and all previously released DLC. As previously announced, the Nintendo Switch version includes high-speed mode found in Ys and Trails games. Fans can enjoy a new, revamped localization of the story as well.

Final Weapon’s review of Tokyo Xanadu eX+ notes that the Nintendo Switch version is the best version on consoles. With a 3.5 out of 5 score, Final Weapon’s review notes that “despite its story and combat-related flaws, Tokyo Xanadu eX+ still presents RPG fans with a great offering of content and features that will make them want to explore Tokyo and discover the secrets of the underworld.”

Fans can also look forward to Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, coming to Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam in fall 2026. Players can transfer their save data from Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter to receive bonuses in Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter.
