A new website has opened to confirm a TV anime adaptation of Hitoshi Iwaaki’s Historie manga series is in the works. LIDEN FILMS is producing the animation, and more details about the Historie anime, including the cast and staff, will be revealed at a later date.
Along with the announcement, Iwaaki shared some comments regarding the story of Historie. According to Iwaaki, he first conceived the story more than 40 years ago, and he began sketching the story nearly 20 years ago in a small studio.
Iwaaki launched the Historie manga in Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine in October 2004, and 12 compiled book volumes have been released to date. The manga is still ongoing, and over 4.7 million copies are in circulation. Historie has won various awards during its serialization, including Best General Manga at the 49th Kodansha Manga Awards in 2025.
